The CDC has acknowledged that their partnerships have provided "a safer and healthier environment for cruise passengers and crew," according to their website, and has ended their COVID-19 program.
Leaders in the travel industry have given credit to the cruise lines for the change, noting their investments in research, commitment to protocol, and close adherence to CDC voluntary guidelines.
David Crooks, Senior VP of Cruise Line Relations, is in constant contact with major cruise lines executives and has responded to the news and said, "this is wonderful news! For a long time now, people have resumed normal activities without additional restrictions and many have waited a long time to take their cruise vacation. Removing additional requirements eliminates a lot of stress for travelers and allows everyone to start looking forward to that vacation they've been thinking about!"
So, what does this mean for me?
Vaccination and testing requirements continue to vary by date, destination, cruise line, or even ship. Currently, many cruise lines are requiring guests to be vaccinated for cruises departing from the U.S.
