Most cruise lines automatically charge gratuities once on board, ranging from $15-$25 per person per day depending on the room type chosen. This charge is not included in the cruise fare unless you were able to book a pre-paid gratuity promotion. Guests can pay gratuities before boarding the ship or on the last day at disembarkation from the ship. Gratuities are divided among the service staff on the ship. Additional gratuities are at the guest's discretion for exceptional service, or on cruises that do not automatically charge daily tips.
Cruise lines typically charge a 15-18% service charge to all beverage tabs in addition to gratuities. For more information on specific cruise line gratuities, visit: How much are service gratuities (tips)?
